Working at the WMC

Job Description

WMC tutors are undergraduate and graduate students who have been trained to provide face-to-face, online (synchronous), and eTutoring (asynchronous) consultations to clients individually. Our tutors come from many majors and disciplines, including engineering, biology, psychology, political science, and the humanities.

Tutors assist with a multitude of communication modes. Their work spans academic and professional writing from any discipline, at any level, and at any stage of the writing process, to help clients improve as communicators. Additionally, tutors deliver informational presentations about the WMC’s services and work on WMC projects as assigned.

Employment Eligibility

Undergraduates

All undergraduate consultants without prior tutoring experience are required to enroll in and complete a three-credit training class, ENL 359: Tutoring Writing. This course also fulfills the University Studies 5B requirement.

ENL 359 is offered every spring, so consider adding it to your schedule!
