LAW 713: The Death Penalty

Prerequisite: LAW 520, LAW 555; Corequisite: LAW 521, LAW 556

An examination of capital punishment as a criminal sentence from three different perspective: American law, public policy and practice; international human rights principles and the status of the death penalty worldwide; and the human stories as seen in the ways in which capital punishment is portrayed in films and documentaries. The final assessment will be a take- home exam.
