Audio Visual Services

All audio/visual materials and services are available at the main Circulation Desk on the first floor of the Library. The phone number for general information is 508-999-8675.

Information on the Library's audio/visual collection may be found by searching Voyager. Terminals for accessing this information are located in the Reference area on the second floor of the Library. For more information on this system and how to use advanced search strategies, see the staff at the Reference Desk or call 508-999-8678.

All reservations for audio/visual materials and/or equipment such as slides, educational videotapes, overhead projectors, slide projectors, screens, etc., should be made by calling the Scheduling Desk at 508-999-8688. This phone line is dedicated to voice mail, so please leave a message. AV equipment is available for use on campus by UMass Dartmouth faculty, staff and students only. It may be picked up at the Circulation Desk on the first floor. A current UMass ID is required.

Anyone borrowing AV materials and/or equipment is responsible for returning them in the same condition as when received. If any items are lost or damaged, the patron is responsible for the cost of repair or replacement, plus a processing fee.

Audio/visual equipment is available for use on campus by UMD faculty, staff and students only. Valid identification (UMass Pass) is required. The types of AV equipment are: audiocassette recorders, data video projectors, overhead projectors, cassette/CD players, DVD players, screens, slide projectors and VCR's/monitors on carts and camcorders. To use camcorders, students must have written permission from a faculty member.

Classroom equipment -- All classrooms in Group I, II, VI, Dion, and the ground floor of the Campus Center have been equipped with a TV, VCR, overhead projector and screen. For any other equipment needs, call the Scheduling Desk at 508-999-8688.

Media carrels are equipped with VCR's, color television sets, audio-cassette decks, CD players, DVD players, turntables and 35mm slide viewers and are located on the first floor. Library patrons may watch movies or listen to music; however, use of these carrels for class assignments takes precedence over casual viewing.

The Viewing Room is also located on the first floor. A maximum of 30 people may be seated. It is equipped with an LCD projector, VCR, DVD player and a document camera. This room must be booked in advance by calling the Scheduling Desk.

Library Browsing Area - Media presentations may be shown to large groups of people (up to 100) by using the Browsing Area, located on the first floor. This area is a multi-purpose facility that is equipped with a wide variety of audio/visual and IT equipment. Call 508-999-8688 for more information or to reserve the space.
