BS in Data Science Degree Requirements
The Data Science program combines courses that cover specific topics like data visualization with traditional courses in mathematics and computer and information science.
Many of our students are involved with projects, hackathons, and other extracurricular events through our BigDataClub.
Data Science Curriculum Requirements
Use the materials below when you meet each semester with your faculty academic advisor to remain on track to graduation. If you are unsure of your Catalog Year, ask your advisor.

University Studies Requirements for Data Science
DSC students are required to meet the University Studies requirements by choosing an approved course from the following University Studies Clusters:
- Cluster 3A: Literature
- Cluster 3B: Visual and Performing Arts
- Cluster 4A: Human Questions and Context
- Cluster 4B: Nature of US Society
- Cluster 4C: Nature of the Global Society
Effective Fall 2014, students who transfer to the University with 24 or more transfer credits will follow the Transfer Substitution policy for University Studies.

The Honors College
Many data science undergradute students are also enrolled in the Honors College. Honors students are required to take at least 24 honors credits with a grade B or higher in each course. You can find the full list of approved data science honors courses on the Honors Tracking Sheet (see above). Please note that enrolling in DSC 498H/499H (honors capstone) requires prior approval from the instructor.
