Laser Safety

Laser Safety

Laser devices are valuable tools used in areas of medicine, the sciences, arts, and engineering. If used improperly, lasers can potentially be hazardous to our environment, faculty, students, and staff.  UMass Dartmouth is committed to maintaining the highest standards of laser safety and developing protocols to minimize unnecessary exposures. The use of lasers and laser systems is strictly regulated by federal and state agencies to ensure the safety of laser worker(s) and the public. Please see the attached laser safety guidance document for more information.

Please register all laser devices used for research purposes, all non-research laser devices which are greater than class 2, and all laser cutting/engraving devices using the following link here to a Microsoft form.
