Topic: “AI-Enabled Antenna-to-System Design with LLMs, MCP, and MATLAB”

Abstract: The AI-Enabled Antenna-to-System Design Tutorial offers hands-on exercises and demos that demonstrate an AI-assisted antenna and RF system engineering workflow in MATLAB.  Using LLMs connected through Model Context Protocol (MCP) and domain-specific skills, attendees will see how to create antenna geometries, run EM simulations, evaluate RF metrics, analyze radiation patterns, and perform design checks with reduced manual effort. The tutorial will also include hands-on examples of AI-based 3D radiation-pattern reconstruction from sparse cuts, pretrained antenna models for rapid design-space exploration, and the use of EM results in RF chains, waveforms, link budgets, and system-level simulations. This tutorial will help attendees to: (1) Use LLMs and MCP-based domain skills to create and analyze antenna designs and automate common EM engineering tasks; (2) Apply AI techniques for radiation-pattern reconstruction and antenna design-space exploration; and (3) Connect antenna and EM results to end-to-end RF system simulations in MATLAB.

Biography: Dr. Sekhar Rajendran Sekharan is a Senior Application Engineer at MathWorks specializing in RF systems, antennas, electromagnetics, wireless communications, and AI-enabled RF design workflows. He collaborates with leading semiconductor, aerospace, defense, and wireless technology companies to develop advanced modeling, simulation, and optimization solutions using MATLAB and Simulink. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University at Buffalo (SUNY) and is an active IEEE contributor, speaker, and author focused on AI-driven RF engineering, antenna design, wireless sensing, and next-generation communication systems.

NOTE: All ECE Graduate Students are ENCOURAGED to attend. All interested parties are invited to attend. Open to the public.
