Abstract:
SMAST hosts world-class research programs tackling the most urgent issues facing our oceans—from climate impacts and food security to offshore energy coexistence and coastal resilience. Designed for high-impact innovation, our graduate programs train the next generation of marine scientists to translate foundational research into real-world solutions. In this talk, we will trace SMAST's institutional journey, examine the current scientific and resource challenges shaping our work, and explore emerging opportunities that will define the future of marine science.
