The UMass Dartmouth Episcopal Campus Ministry is hosting an event with Bishop Mary D. Glasspool, Assisting Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts and a nationally known social justice advocate on Sunday, October 18 at 10:00AM at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 351 Elm Street, Darmouth. All UMass D students, faculty and staff are invited to attend.

Glasspool has spent more than four decades in ordained ministry and has become widely known for her work in the areas of inclusion, social justice, reconciliation, and equality. Her ministry has also made history. In 2010, Glasspool became the first openly lesbian bishop in the Anglican Communion, attracting international attention and becoming a prominent voice in ongoing conversations about LGBTQIA+ inclusion and leadership within religious institutions. She is also a passionate voice for racial justice and reconciliation; gun-violence prevention; and creating a more inclusive, justice-oriented society.

Glasspool continues to speak on issues including LGBTQIA+ inclusion, racial justice, equality, reconciliation, and the role religious communities can play in addressing social divisions.

Her visit to Dartmouth will give local residents an opportunity to meet and hear from a nationally recognized church leader whose career has intersected with some of the most significant social and cultural changes affecting American religious life in recent decades.

The 10:00 a.m. Mass on Sunday, October 18 will feature St. Peter’s Contemporary Music Ministry, including Praise and Worship music.

Following the service, a free luncheon will be served, giving attendees an opportunity to meet Bishop Glasspool and gather informally with members of the community.

The luncheon is free and open to all.

To RSVP for lunch, email stpetersdartmouth@gmail.com

All are welcome!
