Biography

Dr Renuka Rajapakse earned her B.Sc degree in physics from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. She received her Ph.D from the University of Connecticut in theoretical atomic and molecular physics. She subsequently worked as a research scientist at the University of Connect cut, collaborating with experimental research groups in the areas of atomic physics, quantum optics and computational physics.

Dr Rajapakse’s research is in the field of quantum optics, the interaction of light with atoms, molecules and solid state materials on the quantum scale. Interest in quantum optics has grown with the physical development of quantum logic gates, and advances in quantum computation and quantum information theory. Dr Rajapakse does theoretical modeling and numerical simulation of quantum optical systems, and researches their applications to quantum information theory.
