Senator Paul Simon to speak on language at UMass Dartmouth on Sept. 24 

The Honorable Paul Simon, retired senator from Illinois, will speak on foreign languages at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth on September 24. The free, 4 p.m. le cture will be held in the first floor browsing area of the UMass Dartmouth library. Parking is in lot 13. 

Simon’s talk is sponsored by the UMD Boivin Center for French Language and Culture. He will autograph copies of his books following the lecture. 

Senator Simon served in the United States Congress from 1974 to 1997, thirteen years as senator. He now teaches political science, history and journalism, and heads a public policy institute at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. He is a prolific writer, having published 19 books on myriad topics. 

He holds 55 honorary degrees, and is an honorary member of the AATF (American Association of Teachers of French), the only congressman to hold this title.
