Banned in Texas! Defending Philosophy, Again Wednesday March 25th 4:00 – 5:00 PM Dion 109 Prof. Maureen Eckert of the Philosophy Department will discuss the Texas ban and the material from Plato's Symposium in question. She invites everyone to explore the tension between the truth-to-power figure of Socrates, who refuses to be censored, of Plato's Apology and the austere Socrates of the Republic who determines that poets must be banished from the ideal state.
