International Programs Office

The International Programs Office (IPO) advances UMass Dartmouth’s global engagement by leading international initiatives that align with the university’s strategic goals and academic priorities. The IPO manages partnerships with universities around the world and coordinates exchange programs, including application processing, student acceptance, and class pre-registration. The office also supports UMassD students studying abroad and assists faculty and staff in developing international collaborations that enhance teaching, research, and student learning.

International partnerships

IPO manages a growing network of international partnerships with universities around the world, creating pathways for meaningful academic exchange. These partnerships expand opportunities for collaboration, research, and cross-cultural understanding.

Study abroad and exchange student programs

The IPO provides comprehensive advice and support for UMass Dartmouth students preparing to study abroad. Staff guide students through every step of the process including selecting the right program, preparing for international travel, understanding safety protocols, and navigating practical considerations such as visas, insurance, and academic planning. The office also offers support with financial aid and scholarships to help make study abroad more accessible. Throughout the study abroad experience, the IPO remains a resource for students, offering assistance and guidance before departure, during their time abroad, and upon their return to campus.

Incoming exchange students also receive personalized guidance to help them transition to life on campus here in the U.S. and succeed academically. This support ensures that all students can make the most of their international learning experience.

Faculty and staff international initiatives

Beyond student programs, the IPO assists faculty and staff in developing international initiatives. Whether establishing new international partnerships or planning a faculty-led study abroad trip, the office serves as a key resource for expanding UMassD’s global reach. These efforts help foster a vibrant academic community connected to the wider world.
