Administrators, residence life staff, and upperclassmen lent helping hands as first-year students moved into their rooms in Chestnut, Maple Ridge, Elmwood, and Roberts halls.

The competition was fierce and fun as first-year students enjoyed their second day on campus. The Commuters team took first place!

Convocation Convocation


The academic year officially began with Convocation, as faculty and staff welcomed new students—more than 1,400 freshmen and 500 transfer students.

First-Year Reading

Over the summer, freshmen read Jonathan Haidt’s The Righteous Mind: Why Good People Are Divided by Politics and Religion. Haidt (pictured at right) was the guest speaker at Convocation.
