Assistant Dean Uloma Onubogu (College of Nursing & Health Sciences) recently co-published "Innovative Educational Strategies to Improve Dosage Calculation Competency in a Nursing Program" in Nurse Educator. This program evaluation examined how standardized instruction, experiential learning, virtual simulation, and dedicated faculty oversight were integrated to strengthen medication dosage competency among nursing students.
Professor Pingguo He (Fisheries Oceanography) and Drake Ssempijja (Doctoral Candidate) published "Inland Fishing Gear: Diversity, Classification, Management and Conservation Challenges" in Aquaculture, Fish and Fisheries. The paper highlights the diversity of fishing gear used in inland fisheries, focusing on gear regulation and management, and emphasizing environmental impacts and associated conservation challenges.

Assistant Teaching Professor Basil H. Aboul-Enein (Health & Society) recently co-published "The role of comics in oral health education: A scoping review of interventions" in Health Education Journal. The article aimed to map and summarize the use of comic-based interventions in oral health education and evaluate their reported outcomes across different populations and settings. Aboul-Enein also recently co-published "Desire to Weigh Less and Unhealthy Weight Control Behaviors Among U.S. Adults: Evidence From NHANES 2017–2018" in Obesity Science and Practice. This secondary data analysis examines the association between a desire to weigh less and unhealthy weight control behaviors among American adults.

Associate Professor Wei-Shun Chang (Chemistry and Biochemistry) recently received $700,066 from the NSF for a project titled "CAREER: Spin Polarization of Inorganic Hybrid Nanostructures at the Single-Particle Level." The prestigious grant supports early-career faculty and their potential to serve as academic role models in research and education in their field. Chang and his team study nanomaterials, which are extremely small particles that measure one millionth of a millimeter.
Associate Professor Scott Field (Mathematics) received $209,943 from NSF for "High-Fidelity, Error-Controlled Models of Gravitational Waves from Generic Binary Black Hole Mergers". The project will develop faster, more accurate models of gravitational waves from complex black hole mergers to improve tests of general relativity and our understanding of black holes across the Universe.
Assistant Professor Kristopher Jackson (Nursing) has been selected to receive the American Association for Men in Nursing's 2026 Gene Tranbarger Research Award, a national honor recognizing Jackson's research advancing men's health and the health of sexual and gender minority populations.
