Interim VC of Administration & Facilities appointed

John Storti to join UMass Dartmouth on September 14

On September 2, Chancellor Mark A. Fuller, PhD, announced that John Storti will be joining UMass Dartmouth on September 14 as Interim Vice Chancellor of Administration & Facilities, following David Gingerella’s retirement. Storti brings an extensive background in the construction industry as well as 15 years of experience at R1 research universities to this role.  

Storti most recently worked at Brandeis University, where he has served for the last 11 years as Associate Vice President for Finance and Business Services, and previously was Director of Strategic Procurement. In this role, he served as a strategic partner to the university, playing a key role in developing and managing the university’s $400M annual operating budget and leading the development and oversight of the $16M capital budget. Storti’s work at Brandeis also regularly involved capital planning, construction, facilities, energy, athletics, contracts, and broader institutional strategy. He was responsible for procurement and budget oversight of large-scale debt-funded capital projects, including the construction of a $135M residence hall and the $12M renovation of Brandeis’s dining hall. He also oversaw contracts across a broad operational portfolio, including capital construction, facilities, physical plant, information technology, campus safety, transportation, fleet management, dining and other auxiliary functions. 

Before his time at Brandeis, Storti spent more than three years as the Strategic Sourcing Manager at Dartmouth College and ten years as the co-founder and chief negotiator for SJS Contracting Companies, which completed construction of 23 federal and state prison facilities during that period. In this role, he successfully negotiated more than a dozen collective bargaining agreements with multiple building trades unions, developing labor strategies that strengthened workforce stability, resolved complex negotiations, and supported successful project delivery. Storti is a graduate of Moravian University, where he captained the baseball team, and holds an MS in Project and Program Management from Brandeis University.
