Who am I truly ?
Hello, my name is Larissa Bernadeau. I am a 18 year old freshman in college who hopes to earn a degree in nursing and further become a nurse practitioner. I'm originally from Randolph, MA, but moved to Stoughton, MA, in third grade. I come from a range of cultures; I am Haitian, Dominican, and German. I embrace my Haitian culture the most because it's what I grew up with, learning the language, food, and culture over time. My family is my mom, grandma, and brother; they are who I live with and who I spent all my 18 years with before college, not to mention my mother's side of the family, who I grew up with and am very close with. They make me up and give me the personality I have now; everything I learn is from my family. I chose to enroll at UMass Dartmouth because it fit the most within my budget, and also because I liked the program that was offered to me that would help me purse my goals at a slower pace but i know that i would have an amazing support system and what it has to offer outside of all of the academic things. I plan to focus on being more independent with myself, learning not to let other people do things for me and speaking up for myself when I need help. In that, I hope to find myself and who I am as a person in a way that I can be proud of myself. Rather than other people giving me accolades, I want to be able to look back and say that I've done enough. Over the next 4-5 years, I plan to pursue a degree in nursing. It's one of my biggest dreams and life goals. I really couldn't see myself being anything else but a nurse. I want to be able to focus on my schoolwork to work towards my goal of becoming a nurse, even though it's challenging and competitive. I truly believe that I will get there eventually with hard work and perseverance.
I will use my Degree in nursing to help the people around me, you just don't do the major just because it gives you stability in life but its the thought of helping people around you even strangers that you find everyday that your in the hospital you are e;ping your society in curing there disease or what ever type of illness they have I always wanted to become a nurse because of my grandparents that always have consent leg pain and i wanted to be able to help them get treated but whenever someone is sick or ill im always jumping to help them find a curse, being a nurse practitioner will help me make my mark on the world because i want to be able to help my patients as much as i can so they wont be in pain, truly everyday that i will walk in a hospital i know that in my mind that im helping someone else's loved one get better so they can do there daily activities Nurses are needed everywhere, so it will be nice to know that I will be needed everywhere I go because of my major. I'm not just throwing away my degree but using it for the greater good, and focusing on my schoolwork and eliminating the extra directions will benefit me in what I want to focus on. My future actions will really benefit my own future family. I've always dreamed of having a nice family with a big house living peacefully. If they ever have any type of illness or sickness, I will be able to treat them and know what kind of resources that I will need to treat them, and I won't need to stress out about what I need to do; I will have an open mind about what to do. I really hope that I can change the world by curing and helping people. It just takes a little care in the world to make a global impact in your community, and maybe I can be a little help and change my surroundings for the better.
