My name is Elijah Charles and I am from Quincy, Massachusetts. I grew up in a family that values hard work, respect, and determination. My heritage taught me to appreciate opportunities and never give up on my goals. My family’s encouragement has always pushed me to aim high, stay focused, and continue learning no matter what challenges I face. These values have shaped who I am and inspired me to take the next step toward building a successful and meaningful future.

I chose to attend the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth because of the opportunities it offered me and the calm atmosphere of the campus. I am a Computer Science major and my goals are UMass Dartmouth is to develop the skills, confidence, and connections I'll need to successfully shape my career. I found the environment calm and supportive which made me feel comfortable choosing it as the place to continue my education. I believe UMass Dartmouth will help me grow both personally and academically by giving me the right resources through my college journey and with the tight-knit College Now resources I already recieve. I also hope to get involved in campus organizations and programs that I am interested in which can possibly help me gain leadership experience and make the most out of my time here.

In the future, I plan to use my education to make a positive impact on both my local and global community. I want to apply what I learn at UMASSD to create opportunities for others, especially young people who come from backgrounds like mine. My goal is to have a career within Cybersecurity and to be successful with it. By pursuing my degree and using it to help others, I hope to inspire my family and community to believe in the power of education and commitment.
