Part 1

Hi, my name is Kassidy Chavez. I am from Ludlow Ma, but was born in Falmouth Ma. On my moms side of the family they all still live there. On my dads side they live in Rhode Island or Mexico City. Along with that my moms side is Portuguese from the islands of the Azores and my dads side is from Mexico City. I have traveled to Mexico City to see family, explore, and go to festa’s. Along with that my grandparents have a house in the “rancho” in other words in the country so I get a feel of both sides of Mexico when visiting.

With my mom only going to community college and my dad going to tech school in Mexico, I could say I am first generation which for some is a great and big accomplishment. My biggest achievement can be all the dance metals and awards I have gotten for doing dance for 15 years. Along with dance I also did soccer, basketball, and cheer growing up. But as I turned older I made the decision to stick to dance because it was my fav and I was best at it. I also did community service at my local catholic church which I am apart of.

Part 2

I choose UMass Dartmouth because of the great Pre-Law program they offer. Getting my bachelors in 3 and law school for 3. In the mean time I plan to be a paralegal and get a internship at a law firm over the summers. I plan to major in Crime and Justice Pre-Law. In the College Now program it has been nothing but great. There is also a helping hand ready to help with whatever is needed. I loved having Juliana as a peer mentor she was very understanding and supportive.
The most helpful thing I could say is just kinda knowing their is someone always willing to help if needed. What motives me most to stay in school is my own goals and knowing I can do it, along with the support of my parents and advisor. I did not have any expectation of College Now in high school. Again I am pursing my bachelors degree in Crime and Justice then heading to law school to become a immigration lawyer.

Part 3

I am going to use my education to serve the community by helping and advocating for families with any immigration issues. The goal is to keep families together so no hardship or trauma is given to the family mainly the kids. One thing I would to see change in the world is the separation of families.

I believe future potential investors should invest in my education because I know what my career goals are and I am ready to do anything and everything needed to get to where I can to be with my degrees. I am motivated. My final career goal is to be a immigration lawyer. This goal can help families like mine.
