Chery, Mckennya

Hello to introduce myself, I'll start with my name McKennya Chery something simple but not basic i would say. I am 19 years old i have two siblings' brother and sister. I am the oldest. My mother is a nurse, and my father is an accountant. We all live together in our home in Dighton ma. Dighton is a small suburban town in mass, mostly farmlands. It's a beautiful place to see honestly i did not know that till I moved there. My family is Haitian, and we lived in Brockton but before high school we moved to Dighton where I graduated from Dighton Rehobeth regional school. I played on the softball team and played theatre. To be fair i did not really have any spefic reason for going to this school but for the law and criminal justice program. Most schools only really have one or the other and i really wanted to do both. Most people when they hear what my major is first say ohh you must want to be a lawyer or a police officer but that's not the idea. But i wanted to be a detective since i was a kid but as i aged i felt a need for more was not enough for me i liked the idea of solving crimes but i wanted to do more in a way. I did not know how but all i know is that i want to be a CIA agent or FBI, but the goal is CIA. Being in the college now program gives me a chance at achieving those goals. My time in this program has been an interesting experience when i was accepted into this program i did not know it was going to in tail. I have definitely benefited from being in this program. All the help and resources that we are giving to help us are very useful. Being able to see and talk to my advisor and have a peer advisor was my favorite part i very much enjoyed my adviser and i know she enjoyed my company and tea that i would talk with her about. College is a current experience that i honestly do not know how to explain from making friends to making the deadline of an assignment. I thought college was going to be very difficult when i got here because i did not want it to be like a repeat of high school. Where i only had a few friends, struggled with work and did not have the ability to ask or find help. But with the college now program it was not like that i have available access to help and where to find it and making friends was notes bad either once you start talking to people. My roommate is one of my few closes friends. But i have also learned that to make friends that i actually have to go to events and or even join an organization. I tend to go to events and recently joined one of the dance teams on the campus called Pan Africa rhythms dance team. I have so much fun with them dancing and bonding. College now has made me realize that college is an experience that i created not created for me. I plan to use my education in law and criminal justices to contribute to society by strengthening the system that protects people while also holding those systems accountable. The one thing i would most like to see change in the world is how justice is pursed not just reacting to crime but preventing it through intelligence ethics and a deeper understanding of the law. From a young age i was drawn to solving crimes and uncovering the truth but as i matured i realized that simply enforcing the law was not enough for me i want to be involved in protecting national security addressing global threats and ensuring justice is served on a broader scale. I chose this school specifically because of its combined law and criminal justice program. My long-term career objective is to work for the CIA with the FBI as a secondary path, but my goal is to reach beyond that. This education will give me the legal foundation investigative skills and ethical training needed to analyze complex situations, conduct intelligence work and make decisions that affect lives communities and national security. Future investors in my education would be investing in someone committed to service discipline and long-term impact. My success will benefit my family by providing stability and setting an example of perseverance and purpose. Locally i hope to contribute to safer communities through informed policy and intelligence driven prevention. Globally my goal is to protect democratic values and reduce threats before they escalate and play a role in creating a safer more just world through this education i intend to make my mark not to just by solving problems but by preventing them.
