My name is Abhinav Divi, and I am a freshman here at UMASSD studying engineering. I grew up in my hometown of Grafton, Massachusetts, and attended high school at AMSA. Some of my interests include outdoor activities and travel. Throughout my academic career, I have always had interests in math and science. I have a loving family, which includes my mom, dad, older brother, and twin brother. My family's ethnic background is Indian, with both of my parents having been born there and later immigrating to the U.S. The reason why I made the decision to enroll at UMASSD was not only because of the comprehensive support for my engineering major, but also because of the vastness of majors which they offered, that would give me a chance to explore my interests and even gain new ones. My goal as a student here is to study well, gain knowledge that I will be able to apply to my career, and explore. My other goal for college is to be a valuable member of the UMASSD community through activities like volunteering and clubs. In the future I plan to use my education to contribute to society by pursuing a career in engineering where I can help develop innovations that address real-world issues and improve Divi 2 people’s lives. I also hope to share the knowledge and experiences that I have gained to help
others. Beyond my career I hope to be a role model for my family and my community by demonstrating the value of education and hard work. I hope to utilize my education to make a positive impact locally and globally, while making my family and community proud.
