Pursuing a college education is one of the largest investments I have placed in myself. I come from a family where education is, and always has been, a big part of life, no matter what kind of circumstances were being faced. Family and culture have greatly influenced who I am today. I have a very supportive family that encourages me to never give up but push on.Their sacrifices for me give me all the motivation I need in schooling and not taking this gift for granted in life.

Of course, I have encountered some challenges along the way, especially in learning how to balance school, obligations, and other expectations. Attending college hasn’t always been simple for me, but overcoming these struggles has allowed me to grow and become more confident in myself. One of my achievements thus far in college has been getting involved in opportunities such as CVSA. Being a part of this community of students has allowed me to make new connections, gain leadership experience, and become a part of college life, which makes college a better experience for me.

One major reason I chose to attend college at UMass Dartmouth is because it seemed like a good fit for me to grow both academically and personally. Being a part of the College Now program has allowed me to adjust to college life in a way I never expected. Through this program, I have learned to balance time, college expectations, and utilizing college resources available to me. Assistance from college advisors and staff has proved very helpful and has made the transition from high school to college life much simpler.

Going to college is a whole different experience from what I expected in high school. Being in college demands a lot of independence and self-driven initiative, which is not easy. However, as time has passed, this experience has really motivated me towards becoming a more responsible individual. I am a student at UMass Dartmouth, and I am determined to dedicate myself to college in order to make a bright future for myself. The thing that really encourages me is knowing that college will bring opportunities. I would like to put the education I can attain to good use in making a positive impact. I am hoping to be able to make a difference in people’s lives with the education I will acquire. One thing I believe I can make a positive impact on in this world is to help make opportunities more equal for students who don’t have them or don’t think they can achieve a college education.

Anyone considering an investment in my education can be assured they will be making an investment in a motivated individual eager to put in the effort. As far as personal career ambitions, they include creating a bright future where I can support my loved ones and bring positive change to my community. With an education, I will finally have the chance to make a tangible difference not only in my life but in the lives of those surrounding me.
