My name is Peter St Louis Severe. One of the things I've learned about my name was that it means rock. Stable, trustworthy, strong. I always strive to be a pillar of the community. My family is from Haiti, which has shaped the values and traditions that I grew up with. Being from Haiti, I’ve learned of the history of our people. The chances that were taken from us, and how education is a privilege. My mom has always showed me how to take chances when offered to me so I can be the best I can.  I chose to go to the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth because I believe it offers the right environment for both personal and academic growth. I am currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, which aligns with my interests and long-term career goals. During my time here, I want to develop strong skills, gain hands-on experience through internships and campus involvement, and build connections that will help me succeed after graduation. I am excited to use the university and what it provides to prepare myself for a better life.  With my education, I plan to make a positive impact on both my community and the world. I want to use the knowledge and skills I gain to help change the world for a better place.  Working in a 3D production facility, I’ve learned that the time I up into things, help other people more overall. My goal here is to build a career that not only supports my family but also contributes to improving the lives of others. I aim to give back and inspire future generations to pursue their dreams and make a difference.
