Part I: My Background

My name is Oreoluwa Tubi, and I am a proud Nigerian-American freshman at UMass Dartmouth. I come from a vibrant cultural heritage rooted in the Yoruba traditions of Nigeria, which emphasize community, respect, and perseverance. My family is close-knit and supportive, consisting of my parents, siblings, and extended relatives who have always encouraged me to pursue my dreams. Growing up in a household that values education and hard work has shaped my identity and inspired me to aim high in all that I do.

Part II: My Present Goals

I chose to enroll at UMass Dartmouth because of its strong academic programs and supportive campus environment. As a biology major on the pre-dental track, I am committed to pursuing a baccalaureate degree that will prepare me for dental school and a career in dentistry. My academic focus is not only on mastering the sciences but also on developing the interpersonal and leadership skills necessary to thrive in healthcare. I am passionate about both hairstyling and cooking, and while these interests enrich my personal life, my primary academic goal is to become a dentist who makes a meaningful impact in people’s lives.

Part III: My Future Aspirations

With my education, I plan to contribute to society by providing compassionate and accessible dental care, especially to underserved communities. I envision opening a dental practice that also serves as a hub for health education and outreach. Additionally, I dream of opening a salon and a restaurant—spaces where I can celebrate creativity, culture, and community. These ventures will not only benefit my family by creating generational wealth and opportunities but also uplift my local and global community by promoting wellness, entrepreneurship, and cultural pride.
