My name is Amare Young. I am an eighteen year old freshman at UMass Dartmouth and I come from New Bedford Massachusetts.  I like to play basketball, watch Marvel movies and I like to workout and cook. I work part time at FunZ trampoline park. My family is from Cape Verde, specifically Brava and Fogo. My great grandparents came from Cape Verde to New Bedford Massachusetts. I chose to enroll at UMass Dartmouth because I felt that it was the best place to go and it is closest to where my family lives and I felt that UMass Dartmouth is the best option for me going forward. My degree right now is College Now but I will be pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity. I am choosing this degree because I enjoy helping people and I want to keep people safe from hackers and help keep data safe . Some of my personal goals here at UMass Dartmouth is to join a club or a sport .The club I want to make happen is a ping pong club because I am really interested in ping pong and I also would like to play basketball for the school. I also want to get involved in school activities and in the community here at UMass Dartmouth. With my intended degree in Cyber security I plan to work in the cybersecurity field to help people from hackers and threats that may happen. My main goal with working through cybersecurity is to make sure everyone's data is safe and secure and to also make sure everyone's technology can be used without a fear of being hacked. By doing this career I can really help my family out and help give back to my community. In the future I hope to make an impact on
people's lives by keeping their information safe.
