University scores highly in three of its most impactful majors

For the ninth year in a row, the U.S. News & World Report has named the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth one of the top national and public universities in the country in their annual Best College Rankings. The university placed in several undergraduate categories, highlighted by top rankings and sharp rises in three of its largest majors.

The university was also named a top performer on social mobility, an important metric that measures how well schools graduate economically disadvantaged students, ranking 102 out of all U.S. institutions and second highest among public universities in New England.

"I am proud that the educational excellence of UMass Dartmouth's programs is recognized by U.S. News & World Report," said Chancellor Mark A. Fuller. "With three of our largest programs being celebrated, these prestigious rankings show that our University is preparing students well for impactful careers in industries that meet important societal and economic needs in our region and nationally."

Computer Science 

The undergraduate program in computer science ranks among the top 21% of computer science programs in the U.S., climbing 84 spots to rank 126th out of 584 programs. This ties the University of Rhode Island as the third highest-ranked bachelor's in computer science among public universities in New England and second among Massachusetts public universities. 

Psychology 

The psychology major ranks among the top 25% of programs in the country, climbing 70 spots to rank 164th and tying the University of New Hampshire as the fifth highest-ranked program among public universities in New England and the third highest-ranked public university in Massachusetts. 

Nursing 

The university's largest undergraduate program maintains its status as one of the top 10% of U.S. programs, ranking 74th out of 686 qualifying programs. For the third year in a row, more than 96% of nursing majors in the class of 2023 were employed or enrolled in graduate programs within six months of graduating.
