The College of Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA) at UMass Dartmouth opens its 2008-2009 exhibition season with the Foundation Studio Arts Exhibition. This group exhibition features two- and three-dimensional work created by first-year students during the past academic year. The exhibition includes drawings, paintings, photography and prints, as well as sculptural works made of plaster, stone and wood. The Foundation Studio Arts Program is a rigorous first-year program for students pursuing a degree in the visual arts and art education. The program, which features courses in a variety of two- and three-dimensional studio area, is designed to promote creativity and develop in the young artist an understanding of the visual language. Foundation Studio Arts Exhibition will be on view through October 5, 2008, in the CVPA Campus Gallery. There will be an artists' reception on Saturday, October 4, from 11am-2pm. Regular gallery hours are Monday through Saturday from 10am-5pm, or by appointment. The exhibition and reception are free of charge and open to the public. The CVPA Campus Gallery is located on the main campus of UMass Dartmouth at 285 Old Westport Road, North Dartmouth. The gallery can be found on the first floor of the Visual and Performing Arts building. Patrons are advised to use parking lot 7a.
