IESNA Boston Student Scholarship Design Competition 2018-2019

Interior Architecture + Design sophomore Lauren Matte has won second place in the IESNA Boston Student Scholarship Design Competition 2018-2019. Her project, a custom light fixture designed around the competition's theme: "Celebration," will be displayed and acknowledged at the 2019 Illuminations Awards Gala on May 9, 2019 at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront. The Gala is a social function and dinner where award-winning lighting designs from the region's design community are presented. At that time, she will be awarded a $1000.00 scholarship prize.

ABOUT THE COMPETITION

Sophomore Interior Architecture + Design students design and create custom luminaires as part of Professor Stephanie McGoldrick’s IAD 218 Lighting design studio. Students design the luminaires to be functional, buildable, represent them digitally and create a working prototype.  Each year, IESNA selects a theme to be interpreted by the students in their designs, with this year's being "Celebration."  The designs are judged on originality, marketability, fabrication, and serviceability.

Lauren’s winning project will be on exhibit during the CVPA Star Store Campus Open Studios event April 11, 2019 as part of AHA! Night.
