Eric Holmes (Physics '10) wins scholarship to Germany exchange program

School of Marine Sciences and Technology Laboratory Assistant Eric Holmes (Physics '10) inspired his peers last fall during International Education Week with a poster presentation, and his work has now helped him get started on his next big UMass Dartmouth adventure.

Voted the "most inspirational" presentation at the UMass Dartmouth  International Education Week Program, Holmes' poster recapped his collaboration with the Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology, during which he participated in an expedition to the Kuroshio Current. There he studied physical and biological processes related to the interface between the current and ambient waters.

The presentation and award helped him earn a scholarship to a summer exchange program in Germany, which was announced recently by the UMass Dartmouth International Programs Office.

Holmes earned his M.S. in Physics with Prof. Amit Tandon serving as his advisor. He is currently working in Dr. Geoffrey Cowles' Computational Methods Laboratory.
