Academic building heat and hot water shutdown Saturday for system repairs

Repairs expected to be completed by 4 p.m.

An emergency steam shutdown is needed to attempt a repair on a steam line in the area of the Dion science and Engineering building. The current situation represents an immediate safety risk to our students, faculty, and staff.

A partial steam shutdown will commence at 8 a.m. on Saturday morning. The academic and administrative buildings will be without steam or hot water until approximately 4 p.m. The shutdown was scheduled this Saturday due the imminent safety concerns and the moderate ambient weather conditions anticipated this weekend, which should minimize the effects of this shutdown. Please consider dressing appropriately for your personal comfort.

Residence Halls, Campus Center, Dining services, and the Fitness Center should not be affected by the planned steam shutdown.

During this shut down please contact Facilities / Public safety to report any emergency issues. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact Phil Lopes at 508 264 6270 or email plopes@umassd.edu.
