Dean Tio has served as a representative for four art and design programs since 1996, CVPA being his most recent, as well as, serving as an accreditation visitation team chair and member, having visited over 15 member institutions throughout the U.S. In that time Dean Tio has been elected to the Commission on Accreditation for two 3-year terms and asked to serve as a replacement for three Commission meetings since 2010.

NASAD is an association of more than 300 schools of art and design, primarily at the collegiate level, but also including postsecondary non-degree-granting schools for the visual arts disciplines. It is the national accrediting agency for art and design and art and design-related disciplines. Additionally, NASAD provides statistical research, professional development for leaders of art and design schools, and policy analysis.

CVPA is a comprehensive arts college with Bachelor's and Master's programs that prepare students for careers in the arts. Undergraduate students in the college may choose concentrations from a broad spectrum of the arts, all of which provide a framework for developing a high degree of professional competence and pursuing individual creative goals. Essential to this framework are the academic programs and resources of the whole university. The facilities and equipment on the Dartmouth and New Bedford campuses are a source of pride for our students and faculty, and are among the finest in New England.
