UMass School of Law Alumna Valquiria Ribeiro has been named a recipient of the 2014 Adams Pro Bono Publico Award by the Supreme Judicial Court's Standing Committee on Pro Bono Legal Services. The award is presented to legal professionals who better their communities by delivering volunteer legal services to the underprivileged.

Valquiria Castiglione Ribeiro is an immigration and family lawyer operating out of the Bristol County area. Her diligence in providing Pro Bono work to her community has earned her this prestigious award. As a member of the South Coastal Counties Legal Services non-profit corporation she provides free civil legal services to low income and elderly residents.

UMass Law recently launched a Boston law incubator focused on bringing quality, affordable legal services to clients with unmet legal needs. The "Justice Bridge" incubator is designed to provide quality legal representation to clients who cannot afford traditional market rates, while supporting recent UMass Law graduates who wish to develop solo, small firm or public interest practices.

UMass Law, located at UMass Dartmouth, is the only public law school in Massachusetts. The law school was established in 2010 to provide a high quality, affordable legal education focused on creating justice-centered lawyers. UMass Law is especially committed to increasing the diversity of those who practice law in the Commonwealth and encouraging students to become professionally engaged in their community through clinics and internships while they study.
