UMass Dartmouth's College of Arts & Sciences presents a series of international films for the 2014 fall semester. All films are free and shown in Room 153 in the College of Visual & Performing Arts building. Each program begins at 7:30 p.m. and is hosted by English Professor Charles White. The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) is the largest college at UMass Dartmouth, offering 21 majors.

September 12, 2014 - "The Iran Job" (Iran, 2013)
When African-American basketball player Kevin Sheppard accepts a job to play in one of the world's most feared countries -- Iran -- he expects the worst. However, Kevin forms an unlikely friendship with three outspoken Iranian women who share with him opinions on everything, from politics to religion to gender roles. 11 year old Skunk lives carefree life with her loving father, brother, and nanny until she is unwittingly drawn into her neighbors' unfolding melodrama. (Directed by Rufus Norris)

October 24, 2014 -- "A Bad Day to Go Fishing" (Uruguay, 2010)
Jacob -- formerly "the strongest man on earth," now a washed-up alcoholic -- and his crafty manager, Orsini, make good money staging bogus wrestling matches in small South American towns. When this oddball duo arrives in the unassuming village of Santa Maria, business really takes off. (Directed by Alvaro Brechner) (In Spanish with English subtitles)

November 14, 2014 -- "In the Name Of" (Poland, 2013)
Adam is a catholic priest who lives in a rural Polish village where he works with troubled teens. He declines the advances of a young woman, EWA, saying he is already spoken for by God. Adam knows that he desires men and that his embrace of the priesthood has been a flight from his own sexuality. (Directed by Malgoska Szumowska) (In Polish with English subtitles)

December 5, 2014 -- "2 Autumns, 3 Winters" (France, 2013)
Arman is 33 and ready to make a change, starting with a run in the park. When he literally bumps into Amelie, slightly cynical but nevertheless lovely, he's deadest on making a connection with her. Arman's best friend, Benjamin, suffers a stroke, landing him in the hospital, where he falls for his young physical therapist. Over the course of 2 autumns and 3 winters these love affairs grow into unconventional stories.
