Nursing Program Ranked 79th by U.S. News & World Report

UMass Dartmouth's College of Nursing was ranked 79th nationwide by U.S. News & World Report in its 2015 edition of the "Best Graduate Schools" issue. The University's College of Nursing was among nearly 1,000 programs surveyed by U.S. News. The ranking reflects a methodology and criteria based on peer reputation, determined through surveys administered on behalf of U.S. News to deans of schools with nursing programs, as well as administration and faculty of accredited degree programs.

The U.S. News ranking follows a series of accomplishments and initiatives by the College of Nursing at the undergraduate and graduate level. UMass Dartmouth students and faculty recently traveled to Port-au-Prince, Haiti over spring break to provide services at a medical clinic run by the non-profit organization Partners in Development. This past December, senior nursing student Anna-Rae LeClaire received the Outstanding Student Award at the annual meeting of the BACCHUS Network in part for her commitment to peer health education. In addition, at the beginning of the Fall semester, UMass Dartmouth opened the Elisabeth A. Pennington Simulation Laboratory (SimLab), which offers students an experimental learning environment providing the innovative equipment and experience necessary for them to practice basic and advanced nursing skills.

UMass Dartmouth's College of Nursing is uniquely positioned to shape the course of nursing in southeastern New England. As the only four-year university that offers a Nursing degree south of Greater Boston, the university embraces the incredible responsibility for the future of nurses and the thousands of patients they will care for each year in southeastern New England and beyond.
