Springfield Native Joshua Encarnacion Honored by Massachusetts Department of Higher Education at State House Ceremony Today
UMass Dartmouth senior Joshua Encarnacion, who majors in Human Resources Management with a minor in Leadership & Civic Engagement, was recognized today as one of 29 Who Shine - an elite group of students representing the Commonwealth's 29 public college and university students for their academic achievements and civic contributions. A Student Recognition Ceremony was held at the Grand Staircase of the Massachusetts State House.
Joshua was originally admitted through College Now, one of our University's alternative admissions programs. His sophomore year he enrolled in Leadership 200, a course taught by our Associate Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs, Dr. David Milstone. The class content coupled with Dr. Milstone's support and guidance allowed him to discover his passion for connecting with people and thirst for knowledge in the field of human relations. He was a Charlton College of Business, Human Resources Management student by spring semester of my sophomore year.
Joshua has assumed a wide variety of leadership roles at UMass Dartmouth. He's served as Admissions Ambassador, Orientation Leader, Resident's Assistant, and the University's Student Trustee. Joshua has been hired to work at Google following graduation.
