Exhibit Showcases Works from 13 Students Enrolled in UMass Dartmouth Master of Art Education Program

UMass Dartmouth's College of Visual & Performing Arts (CVPA) is pleased to present the "Artist/Teacher/Researcher: Visualizing Experience" exhibition, which features more than 25 works created by 13 students enrolled in the Master of Art Education (MAE) Program at UMass Dartmouth. A reception and artist talks will take place Thursday, March 6, at 4:00 p.m., at the UMass Dartmouth Campus Gallery.

The show, which is on exhibition through March 12, aims to celebrate the varying roles art educators face individually as teachers, artists, and researchers.

This exhibition features work in a variety of media including painting, photography, mixed media, prints, and sculpture. Participating artists include Bruce Bowman, Morgan Bozarth, Linda Dempsey, Danielle Enos, Jessica Holske, Stephen King, Christine Menard-Neville, Alexandra Roberts, Amanda Russell, Lauren Savoia, Alanna Schull, Jennifer Scott, and Chase Stevens.

The MAE Program is dedicated to increasing the capacity of its graduates to question issues related to teaching, thinking, learning, and producing in and through the visual arts. This program offers a sequence of practical, theoretical, and studio-based experiences through which students build on their knowledge, skills, and confidence as arts educators. The MAE program is approved by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to offer initial and professional licensure. The program emphasizes professional development and lifelong learning for teachers who already hold teaching licenses in the arts or related fields.
