Alumnus and Managing Director of PNC Capital Markets to offer perspectives on a career in public financing of capital projects

UMass Dartmouth will welcome distinguished alumnus William Hayden ‘62, Managing Director of PNC Capital Markets, to discuss his career in public financing of capital projects on Wednesday, October 21 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at UMass Dartmouth’s Claire T. Carney Library Stoico/FIRSTFED Foundation Grand Reading Room.

Prior to his time at PNC, Mr. Hayden was formerly the Senior Managing Director at JP Morgan and previously Senior Managing Director at Bear Stearns. Previous to that, he served as Managing Director at The First Boston Corporation. Mr. Hayden also served in the Department of the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts under Edward W. Brooke and was a tax law specialist with the U.S. Department of the Treasury in Washington, D.C.

Mr. Hayden was the former Chairperson of the National Association of Securities Professionals (NASP) and has been a strong voice in diversifying the investment banking industry.  In 1992, Black Enterprise named him one of the “25 Hottest Blacks on Wall Street” and he been listed among the top 25 most successful African- Americans on Wall Street on several occasions. He currently chairs the Get Ahead Foundation of South Africa, a foundation dedicated to promoting business financing in South Africa. He also is a Trustee for the African American Institute, a former director of The Museum of African Art, and was the Director of the South African Free Election Fund.

A New Bedford native, Mr. Hayden received a Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting from UMass Dartmouth in 1962, and received his Juris Doctorate from the New England School of Law. Mr. Hayden was awarded an Honorary Degree from UMass Dartmouth in 2006.
