UMass Law Librarian Jessica Almeida presented at the New England Library Association Conference on the technology available to assist self-represented litigants and on how public librarians can help their patrons find the legal information they need without giving legal advice.

UMass Law Librarian Jessica Almeida presented with members of the Law Librarians of New England (LLNE) at the New England Library Association Conference in Warwick, Rhode Island. The program titled “Law, Technology, and Access to Justice” was presented to public librarians from the New England area. Ms. Almeida and her colleagues discussed technologies available to assist self-represented litigants such as RePresent and Odyssey Guide & File. The presentation also tackled the question of authorized practice of law and how to help public library patrons find the legal information they need without giving legal advice.
