Experimenting with renewable and recyclable materials, Interface has been leading the way to reduce the carbon footprint of their products and succeeding. Now, every flooring product they offer, whether carpet, LVT or rubber, is 100% carbon neutral. A positive stride towards Climate Take Back. Another exciting step in that direction is the creation of our CircuitBac Green backing, which effectively stores more carbon in its life cycle than it emits.

About The Event

The LEED Green Associate exam is the first step towards LEED Accredited Professional certification. LEED is the new standard for building and stands for Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design.

Mary Richards, a senior IA+D student, contacted Interface flooring inquiring about a possible sponsorship for her commitment to take the LEED Green Associate exam. Gregg Patten, Account Executive for Interface not only said yes to sponsoring her, but also to sponsor four other students.

A team consisting of Interface, UMassD faculty and student representatives conducted a blind review of the submissions to select the five recipients. To qualify, students were invited to submit a paper addressing the importance of the LEED Green Associate exam. To be eligible, students committed to studying for and taking the exam prior to graduation.

A heartfelt thank you to Interface and Gregg Patten, Account Executive, for facilitating this amazing opportunity.
