As the field photojournalism evolved over the years and media outlets grew to include social media platforms, Pereira spoke on how the news is presented through photography, and how that informs our understanding. He also shared his work from 2020 that covered the defining moments of the year, from local health care workers on the frontlines of fighting COVID-19 to the Black Lives Matter movement.
Pereira's work has been featured in Time, Newsweek, US News and World Report, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and more. He won the National Press Photographers Association - New England Region - Photographer of the Year, eight times and New England Newspaper & Press Association - Photographer of the Year 11 times.
