Constitution Day panel to consider recent Supreme Court cases

Panelists from UMass Dartmouth to discuss "The Good, the Bad, and Sometimes Ugly."

On Thursday, September 16, 3:30-5p.m. the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth will be observing  "Constitution Day" with a panel discussion, entitled "The Good, the Bad, and the Sometimes Ugly:  Constitutional Law and Recent Supreme Court Cases."   

The event will be held in the Larkin Moot Court Room at the Law School campus, 333 Faunce Corner Road, North Dartmouth.  The public is invited to attend. 

Participants and panelists will include: 

Robert Ward, UMD Law Dean, welcome and inaugural comment 
Francis Rudko, UMD Law, comment on the "Citizens United" (corporate 
campaign financing) case 
Dwight Duncan,UMD Law, comment on the NYC Muslim center and threatened 
Koran burning 
Dennis Roderick, UMD Psychology, Crime and Justice Studies), comment on 
"sexual predator" registration 
Michael Frates, UMD Alum and New Bedford Attorney,  comment on 
Arizona immigration/racial profiling law 
Phil Cox, UMD Philosophy, comment on Massachusetts same sex marriage 
suit against US Justice Department 

In addition to recognizing Constitution Day, this occasion serves as a demonstration of the collaboration between the new University of Massachusetts Law School at Dartmouth and the main campus of UMass Dartmouth.  It is the first in a series of events this fall jointly sponsored by the Law School and the main campus.
