Dean Kevin Stokesbury and student and faculty researchers at SMAST co-published "Consequences of differing definitions of maturity for management regulations of a gastropod fishery" in Marine and Coastal Fisheries. The paper, which examines Conch management, was selected for the Editor's Choice award.
Associate Professor Shipeng Han (Accounting & Finance) was featured in an article about budget categories and ways to improve personal budgeting.
Associate Professor Gokhan Kul (Computer & Information Science) was featured in an article about a New Bedford Board of Health Zoom meeting that was Zoom-bombed and the follow-up investigation.
Assistant Professors Kristopher Jackson (Nursing) and Martha Whitfield (Nursing) co-published "Performative Online Identities: A Qualitative Study of Male Sex Worker Usernames" in Deviant Behavior. The study explores how internet-based male sex workers construct online personas that reinforce dominant masculine ideals while simultaneously navigating diverse sexual and emotional identities.
The Workers' Education Program received more than $1.2 million to expand adult education and workforce training. The state funding enhances access to education, career pathways, and student support services.
Professor Sheila Macrine (Education) delivered the opening Keynote address at the 2025 International Conference on Embodied Cognitive Science hosted by the Embodied Cognitive Science Unit at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology in Japan.
The Model UN team earned an Honorable Mention at the National Model United Nations (NMUN) Canada 2025 Conference! Representing South Africa, the six-student delegation excelled in committees addressing indigenous rights, environmental protection, and cultural preservation at this global conference in Banff.
Student Josie Moore won the L. Ron Hubbard Illustrators of the Future Contest. Moore will travel to Hollywood in the spring for a weeklong master-class workshop and an awards event.
