The Police Department has been reaccredited by the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission, reaffirming its commitment to meeting the highest standards in law enforcement practices and campus safety.
Associate Professor Rachel Kulick (Sociology/Anthropology), students from her sociology class, and Leduc Center volunteers raised awareness of plastic pollution by collecting plastic litter from local shorelines and creating public art displays on the quad.
Assistant Teaching Professor Basil H. Aboul-Enein (Health & Society) recently co-published "Digital-based physical activity interventions implemented across the League of Arab states: A scoping review" in Oxford Open Digital Health. The article aims to identify and evaluate the effectiveness of digital-based physical activity interventions, such as mobile apps, used across the League of Arab States.
Student Americorps Vista volunteers were featured in the latest Campus Compact newsletter, which highlights the issue of Food Insecurity. The students were lauded for their participation in the annual Leduc Center 9/11 Day of Service.
Dean of the Honors College Amy Shapiro was selected as a panelist for the Best Honors Administrative Practices Opening Panel at the National Collegiate Honors Council Annual Conference 2025. Shapiro will discuss modernizing Honors curricula to address contemporary challenges and improve retention rates.
Assistant Professor Nefeli Bompoti (Civil & Environmental Engineering) was recognized as one of the 2026 "40 Under 40" by the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists. Bompoti was chosen for her leadership in equitable land use, sustainable redevelopment, and climate resilience.
Associate Professor Eric Larson's (Crime & Justice Studies) book, Grounding Global Justice: Race, Class, and Grassroots Globalism in the U.S. and Mexico, was awarded "honorable mention" for Best Book by the Global and Transnational Sociology section of the American Sociological Association.
Part time Lecturer Eiichiro Kazumori recently presented innovative teaching tools and his research on education, OER, and large language models in a blue economy context at the St. Louis Federal Reserve Bank Conference.
