The Arnold M. Dubin Labor Education Center marked 50 years of empowering workers and advancing social and economic justice, honoring AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler and retired Professor Dan Georgianna at a celebration.
Professor Emeritus Mel B. Yoken published the third volume of A History of Letters: Memorable Quotes from a Moribund Art. In this newest edition, Yoken hand-picked 102 letters between himself and acclaimed writers, poets, diplomats, politicians, filmmakers, athletes, and scientists.
Professor Steven Cadrin (Fisheries Oceanography) was featured in an article about the New Bedford Port Authority and SMAST launching a study to observe how commercial fishing vessels and gear operate within offshore wind farms, to clarify real-world interactions between the fishing industry and offshore wind projects.
Assistant Professor Md Habibor Rahman (Mechanical Engineering) published "Manufacturing Cybersecurity from Threat to Action: A Taxonomy-Guided Decision Support Framework" in the Journal of Intelligent Manufacturing. The article offers a practical, structured way to make sense of complex threats and to choose cybersecurity measures that actually fit real manufacturing environments.
Assistant Teaching Professor Basil H. Aboul-Enein (Health & Society) and Associate Professor Ilknur Yesilcinar (Nursing) co-published "A Scoping Review of Breastfeeding Interventions Conducted in the Republic of Türkiye and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus" in Turkish Archives of Pediatrics. The article aims to identify and synthesize breastfeeding promotion interventions, evaluate their effectiveness, and identify research gaps to guide future policy and practice.
SMAST Dean Kevin Stokesbury was appointed to the Ocean Science Advisory Council, significantly strengthening collaborative marine research with his extensive fisheries expertise.
Assistant Professor Ana Doblas (Electrical and Computer Engineering) received $405,995 from the National Science Foundation for "Improved lensless microscope using a multicolor multiplexed approach to provide high-throughput images with enhanced resolution and reduced noise." The project focuses on improving digital lensless holographic microscopy (DLHM).
The Men's Soccer Coaching Staff won the Little East Conference Coaching Staff of the Year Award. In just his second season at the helm, head coach Andrew Schaefer and his staff guided the Corsairs to their first Little East postseason appearance since 2021.
Student-athlete Mekhi Wilson was featured as Hometown Hero, highlighting his stellar performance as a running back for the football team. Wilson scored five rushing touchdowns and had one receiving score in the Corsairs' 42-21 win over Plymouth State in their season finale.
