News 2022: Baker Co-Leads Advanced Appellate Advocacy Session at Stetson Law’s Educating Advocacy Teachers Conference

Professor Julie A. Baker joined William and Mary’s Professor Jennifer Franklin to lead a breakout session at Stetson Law’s national Educating Advocacy Teachers conference on techniques for teaching advanced appellate advocacy.

On Tuesday, June 15, 2021, UMass Law Professor Julie A. Baker led an appellate advocacy breakout session along with Professor Jennifer Franklin of William and Mary at Stetson University College of Law’s EATS (Educating Advocacy Teachers) Conference. EATS is a decade-long standing conference that invites educators from around the country to come together to share experiences while exploring new teaching techniques and technology in the advocacy community. Professor Baker’s session was titled "Designing an Advanced Advocacy Course - Appellate Advocacy.”  Participants explored resources and techniques for teaching and coaching upper-level students in appellate advocacy, with a particular focus on the challenges of remote advocacy in moot court competitions and in appellate practice.
