News 2022: Library leadership transition
Library leadership transition

Provost Huang provides an update on Claire T. Carney Library personnel

Dear Faculty and Staff,

I write to let you know that Dawn Gross, Interim Dean of Library Services, has accepted an opportunity at Boston University as the Associate University Librarian for Planning & Operations as of January 1, 2023. I want to applaud Dawn’s tireless work in elevating the capabilities of the Claire T. Carney Library to meet student and faculty needs in a rapidly changing technological environment.

Dawn started at UMass Dartmouth in 2014 as the Cataloging & Metadata Librarian before her 2017 appointment as the Associate Dean of Library Services. In the summer of 2019, Dawn was appointed Interim Dean of Library Services and admirably led the Library during the pandemic and beyond. On a university campus, the library is such an important space for our students and critical to their success. Dawn and her staff did an incredible job adapting the Claire T. Carney Library in the face of the pandemic while still serving our students.

We are currently in the process of appointing an interim dean and will be making an announcement soon.

Please join me in congratulating Dawn for her dedication to UMass Dartmouth and wishing her well at Boston University.

Thank you,

Hanchen Huang, Ph.D.

Provost & Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs
