News 2022: Important Updates About UMassD COVID-19 Policies for Residential Students
Important Updates About UMassD COVID-19 Policies for Residential Students

Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Kimberly Scott provides information on policy changes for residential students

Dear UMassD Students,

I wanted to provide some important updates about our COVID-19 policies.

As Chancellor Fuller wrote in his February 18 message, pandemic conditions across Massachusetts are improving. Our campus's efforts of vaccination requirements, mask usage, enhanced air quality in academic buildings, and additional cleaning of many high-touch surfaces have made a difference in the health and safety of our community.

Due to these factors and significant decreases in the positivity rate and new case rate, the following policy updates are effective immediately:

  • Student events are now open to off-campus guests.
  • Residence halls will revert to the pre-COVID guest policy. See the Housing Handbook for specific details related to number of guests and duration of any guest visitation.
  • Masks are now optional but must be worn in Health Services, the Counseling Center, and public campus transportation.

The University fully supports any individual that wishes to continue wearing a mask on campus. Also, please know that we will provide students with two at-home COVID-19 tests to take before returning to campus after Spring Break. Please make sure you review where to pick up your tests and the timeline for using them.

As always, please contact corona.virus@umassd.edu with questions, and for additional details on our campus's safety procedures, please visit our COVID-19 website and our Frequently Asked Questions for Students.

All the Best,

Kimberly M. Scott, PhD

Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs
