UMass Dartmouth graduate programs earn national recognition in U.S. News & World Report rankings

Graduate programs rank highly in five academic colleges and 32 categories

The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth has earned national recognition in the 2026 U.S. News & World Report Best Graduate Schools rankings, with 32 programs across five academic colleges ranked among the best in the nation.

"These rankings are a testament to the outstanding work of our faculty in ensuring that our programs remain current, innovative, and aligned with the evolving needs of our students and the workforce," said UMass Dartmouth Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Ramprasad Balasubramanian. "The University's unwavering commitment to academic excellence and student success is what drives the continued growth and impact of our graduate programs."

Charlton College of Business

The Charlton College of Business earned rankings in eight new categories for full-time, in-person Master of Business Administration (MBA) specialties, seven of which placed among the top 100 public universities nationwide.

The MBA concentration in Supply Chain Management is ranked No. 56 nationally, placing it among the top third of U.S. programs and No. 1 among public universities in New England. The International Business concentration also earned a top national ranking at No. 50, again ranking No. 1 among public institutions in New England.

Additional MBA specialties ranked nationally include Information Systems (No. 101), Management (No. 104), Marketing (No. 111), Business Analytics (No. 140), Accounting (No. 148), and Finance (No. 170).

"This recognition underscores the strength and real-world relevance of Charlton's MBA programs," said Charlton College of Business Dean Madan Annavarjula. "Across supply chain management, analytics, and finance, we're preparing graduates to lead with confidence in a fast-changing global economy."

College of Arts & Sciences

The College of Arts and Sciences received national recognition in four categories: Public Affairs Programs (No. 129), Earth Sciences Programs (No. 138), Chemistry Programs (No. 171), and Education Schools (No. 185). Each ranks among the top four public university programs in Massachusetts.

College of Engineering

UMass Dartmouth's College of Engineering is ranked No. 173 in the nation among Best Engineering Schools. Among specialty programs, Computer Engineering is ranked No. 103, Biomedical Engineering No. 117, and Electrical Engineering No. 125.

In each category, UMass Dartmouth is the second-highest ranking public university in Massachusetts.

College of Visual and Performing Arts

The College of Visual and Performing Arts is ranked No. 54 nationally for Best Fine Arts Programs, placing it among the top 30% of programs in the country and second among public universities in New England.

"This recognition acknowledges the strengths and well-earned reputation of graduate education in the visual arts at UMass Dartmouth," said College of Visual and Performing Arts Dean Denise Baxter. "Our students are actively engaging with the broader cultural and professional landscapes in meaningful and impactful ways."

School of Law

UMass Dartmouth's School of Law (UMass Law) continues to gain recognition for its impact-driven legal education, particularly in public service. UMass Law ranks No. 26 nationally and No. 17 among U.S. public law schools for graduates entering public interest law, highlighting its leadership in preparing students for careers that serve communities and advance justice.

"Being recognized among the top programs in the nation for placing graduates in public interest law speaks directly to our mission," said UMass Law Dean Sam Panarella. "As Massachusetts' only public law school, we are committed to expanding access to legal education and preparing our students to make a meaningful difference in their communities and the broader legal profession."

UMass Law was also ranked in multiple additional categories, including Best Law Schools, Part-time Law Programs, Business Law, Clinical Training, Constitutional Law, Contracts Law, Criminal Law, Dispute Resolution, Environmental Law, Health Care Law, Intellectual Property Law, International Law, Tax Law, and Trial Advocacy.
