Parking Permit Information

If you intend to bring a vehicle to campus, please complete the application form from the student affairs office or download it HERE and send it back to the Division of Student Affairs Office.  Once you have received notification that your have been approved for a parking permit, you are responsible to pick up  permit on the following days and times and pay the parking fee. LOCATIONS FOR PERMIT DISTRUBUTION FALL 2007: Residential StudentsResidential Permit Distribution Locations on Saturday and Sunday, September 1 and 2 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 
  • If you live in Maple Ridge, Chestnut, Elmwood or Roberts you can purchase your decal at the Maple Ridge Grille located on the ground floor of Maple Ridge Hall.
 
  • If you live in Oak Glenn or Pine Dale you can purchase your decal at the Oak Glenn Grille located on the ground floor of Oak Glenn Hall.

 

  • If you live in Birch, Ivy, Evergreen, Willow, Aspen, Hickory or Cedar Dell you can purchase your decal at Birch Common Grille located adjacent to Birch Hall.
 
  • Students may also obtain their parking permit from the UMass Pass Office from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on these days.
 Commuter Students Commuter Permit Distribution Locations on Wednesday August 29th – Friday August 31st from 10:00am – 3:00pm, Saturday and Sunday, September 1 and 2 and from Tuesday, September 4 to Friday, September 9 from 10:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. 
  • Commuter Students may obtain their parking permit from the UMass Pass Office at these times on these days and during normal office hours thereafter.

 

  • If you have not applied for a parking permit you must complete a parking application from the Division of Student Affairs located on the 2nd floor of the Campus Center prior to obtaining a permit. Parking is very limited on campus at this time if you have not applied for a permit you will be issued a temporary permit. Click here for Temporary Permit Parking Information 
 FeesParking Permit Fees for 2007-2008 are $150 for Residential students, $100 for Commuter Students, and $50 for students taking eight or fewer credits. Parking permit are valid for the entire academic year and expire on May 31, 2008.   

Below is the Letter to the Students regarding the Parking Decal distribution.

Dear UMD Student: We hope that you have had a great summer and we look forward to your return to campus.   As you all are aware there have been significant changes with parking on campus. The changes to parking and the processes to obtain a parking permit is highlighted below: Application Process for a Parking PermitIf you have not applied for a parking permit you must complete a parking application by downloading a copy of the application (Parking application) prior to obtaining a permit. Then return the completed application to the UMass Pass office located in the ground floor of the Campus Center.  Residential and Commuter Parking PermitsResidential parking permits will be allocated based on the residential address of the student and will be one of three colors.  The Commuter parking permits will be a different color and will allow students to park in all designated commuter lots (all lots except for residential lots).  Payment ChangeOne change from the application information is that parking fees will need to be paid for the entire year as opposed to semesterly.  The annual cost for the parking permit remains as advertised.  Any student leaving the institution after the fall semester will be refunded ½ of the fee paid if their permit is returned to the UMass Pass Office. Obtaining Parking PermitsFor your convenience, we have outlined in this email the process for obtaining a parking decal during move-in weekend and the first days of the fall semester.  Please keep in mind that all residential students approved to park in a campus residential lot may obtain their parking decal on either Saturday, September 1 or Sunday, September 2 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from the location listed below. Commuter students approved to park a car in a campus commuter lot may obtain a decal between Tuesday, September 4 through Friday, September 7 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from the location listed below.  Thereafter, decals may only be purchased during normal UMass Pass Office hours.   Final Date to Obtain and Display Parking PermitsAll parking permits must be purchased and displayed no later than Friday, September 14, 2007.  Tickets will be issued to cars without parking permits beginning Saturday, September 15.  This grace period only involves designated parking spaces.  Any car parked in an illegal space (handicap, fire lane, non-designated space) will be subject to ticketing and towing effective immediately.  Residential Students

Process for Obtaining Parking Decals
  1. Students who have completed an application for parking will be required to present:
    1) a valid UMass Pass, 2) Driver’s License, 3) a xerox copy of your valid Registration, and 4) complete a “Parking Permit Information Sheet”  which will obtain the following: Full Name, Student ID #, Home  and (if  applicable) campus address  of student,  Emergency Contact Number, Expected Year of Graduation, Plate Registration Number, and Name       of  registered Owner of Vehicle. Then return this sheet when you purchase your parking permit
  2. Students who have not as yet received a UMass Pass must first obtain one prior to requesting a decal.  This can be done at the UMass Pass Office in the Campus Center which will be operate from 10 am – 5 pm during move-in weekend
 Parking Decal Cost
  1. The full-year cost for decals is $150 for resident students, $100 for commuters and $50 for part-time students (less than 9 credits).
  2. We will accept cash, Master Card or Visa for payment.
