Here’s what you need to know to prepare for a successful fall semester.
Welcome Corsairs!
We're so excited to have you to UMassD. This year is all about new beginnings—meeting friends, exploring campus, trying new things, and making UMassD feel like home.
From your first class to your first game in Corsair blue, you're about to create memories that will last a lifetime. We can't wait to see where your journey takes you!
To get you into the Corsair spirit, we've put together a list of things you can do now and when you get here.
- Weeks of Welcome (WOW) are packed with activities for new and returning students. Are you ready to compete in the Corsair Olympics on September 1?
- Need help registering for classes, understanding your tuition bill, or figuring out financial aid? Visit the Student Service Center (SSC) in the Foster building.
- Catch one of the home openers for your favorite Corsair team!
- Don't miss the Corsair Fair, the annual Student Organization fair. Meet student leaders from UMassD's student clubs and organizations and plug in! September 10, from 1:30-5 pm, on the Campus Quad.
- Whether you're a residential or a commuter student, if you have a car on campus, make sure you have a valid permit and sticker because ticketing begins on September 3.
- Opt in to get text reminders about important UMassD information and deadlines. These messages are different than campus emergency messages sent through the UMassD Alert System.
- We’re using Canvas as our new Learning Management System (LMS). Complete the Passport to Canvas student orientation to familiarize yourself with key features like submitting assignments, checking grades, and joining discussions, then set up your profile and notification preferences, and finally explore your Canvas Dashboard, course Homepages, and syllabi. Visit Canvas Help for Students to learn more!
- Download the BusWhere app to stay on top of campus shuttles.
- Moving to campus? Here's a list of items you can (and can't) bring to your new room!
- Sign up to harvest veggies for people in need during our annual community service event recognizing 9/11, on September 7.
- Complete "U Got This!" – UMassD's Online Active Bystander training. This is required for all incoming first-year students. Learn how to get started on the training.
- New student? Visit the amphitheater next to the library at 10:45 am on September 2 for New Student Convocation.
- After Convocation, students, faculty, and staff will reunite during the All-Campus Picnic featuring a BBQ, giveaways, and music on the quad, 11:30 am on September 2.
- Prepare for the first day of classes on September 3 and bookmark the academic calendar for important dates.
- Look at the winners of the UMassD Believes essay contest.
- Tell your family about homecoming, aka Blue & Gold Weekend, so they can visit and participate in fun activities across campus.
As you get ready for your first semester, remember—you're not in this alone. The UMassD community is here to support you, cheer you on, and celebrate every win along the way.
💙 Here's to an amazing start to your Corsair journey!
