SOA 303: War and Culture - spring
Prerequisite: SOA 101 or SOA 102 or SOA 111
An exploration of violence, militarism, and war from diverse socio-cultural perspectives. This course will explore forms of social and political violence, including structural violence, internal armed conflicts, genocide and colonial/imperial interventions. We will examine causes and motives for war, socioeconomic and cultural ramifications of militarism, justifications offered by governments, elites and militaries, and consequences such as environmental devastation and poverty.
